This talk introduces the key concepts and ideas emerging from the AHRC CREATe research project, and co-authored with Dan Strutt and Carolina Bandinelli). These include the ‘milieu of fashion labour’, ‘social fashion’, ‘female-led fashion place-making practices’, ‘art theory’, and ‘monopoly rent’. The focus will also be on the dynamics of independent fashion production in London, Berlin, and Milan.
Angela McRobbie is Fellow of the British Academy and Emeritus Professor at Goldsmiths University of London.
