Dr Toby Bennett Research Fellow, Southampton Solent University

Toby Bennett is a Research Fellow at Southampton Solent University. His research explores cultural economies, especially of music, in relation to issues of: work and organisation; knowledge production; policy-making; and critical/social theory. He has a background working in and with recorded music industries and is currently converting his doctoral research – on employee experiences of digital transition in UK major record labels – into published work. He leads on “Southampton as Popular Music Archive” – a research project exploring the cultural history of post-war Southampton through local vernacular curatorial practices – and coordinates the Culture, Media, Place research group at Solent.
