Mark Parsons Co-founder Studio Polpo; University Teaching Practioner, School of Architecture, University of Sheffield

Mark Parsons

Mark is an architect and co-founder of Sheffield-based social enterprise architectural practice Studio Polpo, a practice working primarily with the third sector, to initiate projects and enable transformative social change. Current projects include running an abandoned school as a community hub; an aquaponics demonstrator building; and an Arts Council project on mobile structures to be utilised by socially-engaged artists.

Mark retains close links with former practice Architype, pioneers in sustainable design, and has recently collaborated on a co-housing development in Sheffield, as well as a Passivhaus school and church building with them.

Mark has also taught at the School of Architecture at the University of Sheffield for over 12 years in both Undergraduate and Masters courses and his work seeks to make new connections across disciplines as well as academia and practice.
