Dr Suzy O’Hara

Dr. Suzy O’Hara is a curator and researcher based at University of Sunderland. Through her practice, she interrogates evolving relationships between art and technology and investigates interdisciplinary and cross-industry models of curation that both utilize and inform innovation-based strategies.

Recent projects include; Little Inventors (2015 – present), turning children’s invention ideas into real objects by bringing together educators, artists, designers, and commercial businesses and Wonderlooper (2018), an artwork by artist Di Mainstone that deployed experimental art hack innovation methods to inform its R&D process and transformed the New Wear Crossing Bridge in Sunderland into a giant musical experience.

Her forthcoming co-edited book, entitled Art Hack Practice, (Routledge) presents diverse perspectives from across four continents that investigate global art hacking practices employed by individuals and groups who are working within, around or against the phenomenon known as ‘maker culture’ as artists, designers, curators and historians.
