Dr Kirsten Forkert

Kirsten Forkert is a researcher, author, teacher and activist; her work explores issues of austerity, migration and nationalism. She is based in the School of Media at Birmingham City University, where she teaches media studies and is associate director of the Birmingham Centre for Media and Cultural Research. She is the author of Artistic Lives (2013) and Austerity as Public Mood (2017), and co-author of Go Home? The Politics of Immigration Controversies (2017), and the forthcoming book Media, conflict and the making of migrants (to be published by Manchester University Press next year. Kirsten is a member of the Soundings editorial collective.
